AUTHOR!
These are a few of our favorite writer's favorite books from 1994.
Pagan
Kennedy, author of Platforms: A Microwaved Cultural Chronicle of the
1970s (St. Martin's Press): In 1979, art-school graduate, David Greenberger
began working at a nursing home, producing a newsletter that encouraged
the
residents to write poems and respond to questions. Q: "Would
you swim in
coffee if it wasn't too hot?" A: "Yes, I would. You want
to know my social
security number?" Duplex Planet quickly made the jump from in-house
paper
to incredibly hip 'zine. Now Greenberger has compiled the interviews
into
Duplex Planet:Everybody's Asking Who I Was (Faber and Faber), which
documents better than any book I know, the state of mind we will all
end up
in. If we're lucky
